February 2011 St Helier 'A' 2 v 3 Merstham 'A' E&E League Premier Division |
|
Merstham U15s ‘A’ continued
their resurgence with a third straight win away at St Helier.
Despite going behind to an early corner, Merstham went into the
break courtesy of an own goal and a cool finish from Aydin Mustafa
to be 2-1 up. The second half had Merstham playing into a
strong wind and, despite St Helier’s strong arm tactics, Merstham
had the majority of the play. Ten minutes into the second half
Merstham conceded yet again from a corner against the run of play.
With about ten minutes left a Merstham corner resulted in Pat Lucas
bullet header finding the back of the net which proved to be the
winner. Report by JP Fernee |

November 2010 Merstham 'A' 1 v 2 Farncombe Surrey County Cup |
|
After a two week break Merstham U15s ‘A’ were at home to Farncombe in second round County Cup action. Playing on the main pitch, Merstham went 1-0 up after only fifteen seconds when Charlie Woodford capitalised on a poor Farncombe clearance to coolly slot home. The majority of the rest of the first half was played mainly in Merstham’s half and Farncombe equalised after twenty minutes when a speculative shot which hit a bobble and bounced over keeper Ross Thomas. Half time was reached with Merstham clinging on at 1-1. With a half time talk behind the closed doors, Merstham came out a different team. This time most of the play was in the Farncombe half with Merstham applying constant pressure with no end product. With ten minutes to go Farncombe attacked the Merstham box and after a goalmouth scramble stole a winner.

October 2010 Merstham 'A' 9 v 3 Hook Youth E&E League Cup |
|
Merstham U15s ‘A’ were in action this week with First Division Hook their opponents in 1st round league cup action. Merstham took the lead through Ellis Christou then went 2-0 up through Tom Blade. Hook fought back with two well taken goals as Merstham eased off and halftime was reached on level terms. With Merstham sensing an upset could be on and they would be on the receiving end, they came out fighting and two goals from Blade, Christou with his second, Dominic Fernee, Caolan Quinn, Rolf Ghobar and Liam Galvin with his first for the club made it 9-2. Hook made it 9-3 with the last kick of the game. Overall a decent performance in the end but through better finishing there could have been a lot more goals

October 2010 Merstham 'A' 5 v 0 Merstham 'B' E&E League Premier Division |
|
After a disappointing start to the season, Merstham U15s ‘A’ were hoping to get back on track with a game against the Merstham ‘B’ team. With the recent awful weather easing off in time for the kick off Merstham ‘A’ took the game to the opposition and had several early chances to score. They were given a penalty after 20 minutes when Dominic Fernee was pushed in the box. He took the subsequent penalty for 1-0. A few minutes later Caolan Quinn's fine cross drive found Ismail Tekbiyek who tapped home for 2-0. Quinn made it 3-0 with a superb angled drive just before the break. With the heavens opening at half time it was going to be a tough 2nd half to play in. The A's made it 4-0 when Aydin Mustafa was put through to slot past the keeper. Rolf Ghobar made it 5-0 after a great cross from Tom Blade. The final whistle came to the relief of the spectators after being soaked for 80 minutes!
